Handbuilding Fundamentals - With Jaz - TUE, July 28th @ The Gather Studio / 5pm - 8:30pm
This 2.5 hour hand building pottery class introduces participants to foundational ceramic techniques in a relaxed and supportive studio environment.
Students will explore methods such as pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction while learning how to shape, join, and decorate clay by hand.
The class is most suitable for beginners as well as those looking to build confidence and refine their skills.
Demonstrations, guided instruction, and individual support will be provided throughout the session. Participants will make one functional or sculptural piece which will be finished, fired, and glazed by our instructor Jaz.
We will provide light snacks and beverages, relaxing music, a clean and tranquil environment, as well as all materials and tools.
What to Expect:
Introduction to Handbuuilding: Learn the basics of using slabs and coils, including how to shape and build simple forms.
Hands-On Practice: Guided step-by-step instruction will help you create your own unique pottery piece, such as a small bowl or cup.
Creative Exploration: Feel free to experiment and let your creativity flow under the supportive guidance of our experienced instructor.
A fun and Relaxing Environment: At Gather we strive to create an atmosphere that feels relaxing and zen like. You are welcome to come 15 minutes early to enjoy a coffee or tea in the space. Please try not to be late as it is disruptive to the other attendees.

Trimming, Firing and Glazing of your favorite piece!

Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided

No prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity! By the end of the workshop, you'll have a handcrafted piece to pick up 6 weeks later and a solid experience to continue your pottery journey.
Class Size: Limited to 9 to ensure personalized attention and a more relaxed atmosphere.
Age Requirement: 16 and up. Children 10 - 15 can attend as long as they are accompanied by adult supervision and their feet can reach the pedal.
Please note, due to fragrance allergies, our studio is a perfume free zone. Please do not wear perfumes or body sprays.
Also remember to wear clothing you won't mind getting a little dirty. Aprons will be provided.
Note for people with long nails: It will be more of a challenge than normal to throw on the wheel if you have very long nails. It is advisable to have trimmed finger nails if possible, but not a requirement.
Cancellation Policy: Please be aware we require a minimum of four weeks notice for cancellation to receive a full refund and minimum two weeks notice to receive a credit for a future workshop. There are no exceptions, please plan your attendance accordingly. Special consideration will be given to natural disasters or extreme weather events.
