Beginner Wheel Workshop with Jaz

Dive into the art of pottery with our Beginner Wheel Throwing Workshop! Perfect for those new to the world of ceramics, this 2.5-hour class will introduce you to the fundamental techniques of wheel throwing.

Your favorite piece is included and will be fired with your choice of glaze and ready to be picked up 6 weeks later.

A fee of $10 per additional piece will be charged for any extra pieces you would like to keep. Be advised that pieces are limited to simple forms such as a small dish, cup or bowl, it is not possible to add handles, or make more complex things such as jars.

Additional pieces are limited to a maximum of four pieces per person.

What to Expect:

  • Introduction to the Wheel: Learn the basics of using a pottery wheel, including how to center clay, pull up walls, and shape your piece.

  • Hands-On Practice: Guided step-by-step instruction will help you create your own unique pottery piece, such as a small bowl or cup.

  • Creative Exploration: Feel free to experiment and let your creativity flow under the supportive guidance of our experienced instructor.

  • A fun and Relaxing Environment: At Gather we strive to create an atmosphere that feels relaxing and zen like. Come a little early to enjoy a coffee or tea in the space.

What’s Included:

  • Guidance and support

  • Access to our studio's pottery wheel and tools

  • Trimming, Firing and Glazing of your favorite piece!

  • Clay will be prepped for you to use

  • Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided

  • A relaxing atmosphere with therapeutic music

No prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity! By the end of the workshop, you'll have a handcrafted piece to pick up 6 weeks later and a solid experience to continue your pottery journey.

Class Size: Limited to 8 to ensure personalized attention and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Age Requirement: 16 and up. Children 10 - 15 can attend as long as they are accompanied by adult supervision and their feet can reach the pedal.

Please note, due to fragrance allergies, our studio is a perfume free zone. Please do not wear perfumes or body sprays.

Also remember to wear clothing you won't mind getting a little dirty. Aprons will be provided.

Note for people with long nails: It will be more of a challenge than normal to throw on the wheel if you have very long nails. It is advisable to have trimmed finger nails if possible, but not a requirement.

Cancellation Policy: Please be aware we require a minimum of four weeks notice for cancellation to receive a full refund and a minimum two weeks notice to receive a credit for a future workshop. There are no exceptions; please plan your attendance accordingly.
